ARCS
The American Research Center in Sofia (ARCS) was established in 2004 as an organization dedicated to facilitating academic research in Bulgaria for North American scholars and collaboration between scholars from North America and countries in Southeast Europe (Albania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro. The University of Illinois Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center is a founding member of ARCS and will be hosting the February Managing Committee meeting. In conjunction with that meeting the REEE Center is organizing and interdisciplinary symposium and round table discussion on current issues in Bulgarian studies on Friday, 2 February 2007.

An Interdisciplinary Symposium and Round Table Discussion

The purpose of this informal symposium is to explore the current status of Bulgarian studies from a variety of interdisciplinary perspectives in an international context. Brief remarks by selected speakers highlighting major recent issues, problems, and/or developments will be followed by a general, open discussion of the points raised.
